Celebrate Pinecrest! Drinks and Desserts Live Auction: Saturday, April 29, 2017
Online Auction: Begins April 30, 2017
An Auction is an event where property or services are sold to the highest bidder. Items generally begin at prices well below value and rise as high as bidders are willing to pay.
How does it work at Pinecrest?
The live Auction is on April 29, 2017. Uniquely Pinecrest items will be up for bid, like projects made by each class and creative out-of-class experiences offered by our beloved teachers and staff. We welcome current parents, teachers, staff, and special invited guests to share this evening with us. It’s a fun-filled, adults-only event with drinks, desserts, music and mingling as a backdrop to friendly (but sometimes fierce!) bidding competition.
Following the in-person event we host a week-long online Auction, where donations from businesses and members of the Pinecrest community are sold to the highest bidders. Join us from the comfort of your computer or smartphone device! The online Auction is open to current school families as well as grandparents, aunts, uncles, camp families, alumni, friends, and neighbors.
More info about the in-person event and online Auction will be posted in the coming months.
Pinecrest School is a non-profit organization focused on educating and caring for our children in a way that best serves them – not our bottom line. Tuition alone does not cover the cost of operating our school so the annual Auction is used to pay for daily operations and maintenance. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year.
Consider donating a treasured find or making a basket of smaller items. If you have a skill you’d like to share consider offering that. Popular past items donated from our community include time at a vacation home, ice-cream sundae baskets, iPads, and home-cooked family dinner experiences. Use the donation form [insert hyperlink] for your contribution.
Share: Let others know about the Auction and our school. They may have the perfect donation or be ready to bid in April. The more people who know the more we can raise for our school.
Party: Current parents, find a babysitter and plan to party with us on April 29! In addition to being a fundraiser for the school it’s also a fun night out with drinks and delectable desserts.
Bid: Browse the offerings when posted online, research as appropriate, then mark your favorites. You may not get everything you want at the party and even if you do, there will be lots of other exciting offerings online. Be ready to bid and win!
Tell me more about Pinecrest School
Tucked just inside the Beltway in the heart of Annandale, VA, Pinecrest School is a vibrant community committed to nurturing curiosity, confidence and a love of learning. Now in our sixth decade, our independent, non-sectarian school serves children from preschool three through sixth grade. Pinecrest School also offers exceptionally diverse camp programs during winter, spring, and summer breaks, available to all students in the Northern Virginia area.
Pinecrest fills a unique niche. Many families seek an affordable, alternative education for their children. Pinecrest rises to meet these ideals and values, maintaining a student to teacher ratio of 9:1, graduating students who rank in the top quartile of every academic area tested (Stanford 10 achievement test), and go on to top secondary schools in the region. Our alumni are well prepared to move on to The Congressional Schools of Virginia, Trinity School at Meadow View, Bishop O’Connell High School, the prestigious Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, and others.
Pinecrest maintains full accreditation with AdvancED/Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). During our recent five year re-accreditation in November 2013, we received outstanding reviews by the AdvancED external review team: “Observations in the school’s classrooms indicated an impressively high level of engagement and collaboration. Those observations confirmed the school’s commitment to meeting both the educational and emotional needs of its students. Particularly high results were noted in the areas of high expectation environment, supportive learning environment, active learning environment, and well-managed learning environment.”
Pinecrest School was voted Best Private School in 2011 and Best Preschool Program in 2014, 2013 and 2012 by Washington Family Magazine’s “Best for Families Survey.” The school’s summer camp program was awarded Best Summer Day Camp by the same magazine in 2014, 2013 and 2007.
